Magnus Theatre Presents Stolen, Azhen
THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO ~~~~~~ June 10, 2021 (LSN) What does reconciliation look like in Canada today? That’s the idea behind Magnus Theatre’s upcoming student-led Collective Creation Project. The Collective Creation Project is an annual cooperative effort between Magnus Theatre and local high school students from across the city to create a play around a relevant social issue. Students are guided by professional theatre staff in all aspects of creation, including writing, staging, and performance.
Kam River Fighting Walleye: Fishing Derby
THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO ~~~~~~~ May 13, 2021 (LSN) The Kam River Fighting Walleye is excited to announce details on it’s 1st Annual catch-and-release Fishing Derby on Saturday, July 10th: “KRFW Fishing Fest presented by Sleeping Giant Brewing Co. in support of the Staal Family Foundation.” On Saturday, May 15th, registration for the event will open at 12pm. The early bird registration fee is $50, and Under 16 participants can fish for free if accompanied by a registered participant. Being that the official date of the derby is amid family fishing weekend, all types of participants are encouraged to register: especially families, veteran and rookie anglers.

Entertainers Sought for Chippewa Park’s 100th Anniversary Family Festival

Disc Golf, A Kick Start to Recovery of Local Tourism Industry
THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO ~~~~~~~ June 11, 2021 (LSN) The Tourism Investment Committee of the Thunder Bay Community Economic Development Commission (CEDC) has approved $10,000 in financial support for the 2021 Northern Ontario Disc Golf Championships from the CEDC Municipal Accommodation Tax (MAT) Fund contingent on the hosting of the event as planned. The $10,000 from the CEDC MAT Event Fund will generate an estimated return on investment in the City of Thunder Bay of $12.96 for each dollar invested from the MAT.

Chiefs from NAN’s 49 First Nation communities will vote for members of the Executive Council (Grand Chief and three  Deputy Grand Chiefs) on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, during the 39th Keewaywin Conference to be held August 10, 11 & 12, 2021, in an online virtual environment.

MADISON, WISCONSIN ~~~~~~ May 14, 2021 (LSN) The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is hosting the 9th annual Free Fun Weekend June 5-6. Park admission fees, fishing licenses and trail passes will be waived for Wisconsinites to find their adventure outdoors.
Wisconsin is home to 49 state parks, 15 state forests, 44 state trails, 84,000 miles of rivers and streams, roughly 15,000 lakes and so much more. Before heading to a state park, trail or waterbody near you, here are some helpful things to know:
