Our History

The Prince Arthur Waterfront Hotel & Suite's old-world charm and hospitality are as enticing as the legendary sleeping giant it overlooks. The hotel, built as a world famous C.N.R hotel in 1911 is located on the harbour front in Thunder Bay and offers all the amenities of a full service hotel from an ideal downtown location.

The Prince Arthur Hotel, officially opened March 14, 1911, $850,000 later. It was described as one of the best furnished and appointed hotels on the continent. (see  photos at bottom of this page)

Today the Prince Arthur can be described as the only hotel in Thunder Bay that can offer a spectacular view of the Sleeping Giant.

As tales of old are spun, one can enjoy the hotel’s recent updates. It’s newer interior meets the needs of its corporate and traveling clientele without compromising its century old charm.  We are committed in making every effort to ensure our guest’s stay is comfortable and relaxing.

MADISON, WISCONSIN  ~~~~~~~~  May 14, 2021  (LSN)  The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is asking the public to stay vigilant and avoid burning because of very high fire danger across Wisconsin, particularly in the northern two-thirds of the state.

The increased fire danger is due to the low relative humidities expected across the state, with the lowest values expected across northern Wisconsin. Temperatures will be warm and the air over Wisconsin will be dry, which are weather conditions that aid in the spread of fires.
