COOK COUNTRY, MINNESOTA July11, 2020  (LSN)   Do you have an interest in reducing wildfire risk, encouraging healthy forests, and talking with your neighbors? Cook County Firewise offers several programs designed to help raise awareness and reduce wildfire risk to life and property throughout our county. We are looking for Neighborhood Ambassadors willing to help us increase participation among neighbors for wildfire preparedness. Some examples include teaching neighbors about defensible space around their home, organizing a roadside brushing, or helping create a neighborhood evacuation plan.

THUNDER BAY,, ONTARIO  ~~~~~  July 11, 2020  (LSN)  On the evening of July 6, 2020 a couple was sleeping in their home in the 300 block of Brunswick Avenue when a criminal broke into their home to steal their property. Hardworking Thunder Bay Police Officers responded to investigate and identified their primary suspect to be 32 year old ALBERT JOHN WILLIAMS.

MAN ARRESTED AFTER WOMAN VIOLENTLY ASSAULTED

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO ~~~  July 10, 2020  (LSN)  Hardworking Thunder Bay Police Officers were called yesterday Thursday July 9,2020 after a woman had been violently assaulted and injured in the East End.
It is alleged that a woman woke up at 4am to go to the bathroom in the 500 block McIntosh Street. Upon returning to bed, the accused allegedly held a 4” steak knife above her head and threatened to kill her. It’s further alleged that the woman was punched in the face, causing a tooth to be knocked out of her mouth and had her breast grabbed causing bruising and scratches.

U.S. Border Patrol Agent Renders Aid

PEMBINA NORTH DAKOTA ~~~  July 9, 2020  (LSN)   On July 9, 2020, at approximately 8:00 a.m., a Grand Forks Sector Border Patrol Agent assigned to the Pembina Station witnessed an airplane crash in a field while on patrol west of Pembina, ND.  The Agent, who is also a certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), immediately responded to the scene and requested support from Emergency Medical Services and local law enforcement via Grand Forks Sector Dispatch.

TBFRS deploys the Harbour Rescue Boat

rescue a 23’ Bayliner without power.

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO  ~~~  July  9, 2020 (LSN)  At just after 11:00am the TBFRS Harbour Rescue 1 was launched from the marina park landing to respond to a distress call from a 23’ Bayliner that lost power and function of the boat.  The HR1 immediately located the stranded boat just outside the break-walls north entrance after being spotted by Pumper 5 crew at the Fisherman’s Wharf.  Once near the watercraft TBFRS crew members determined that the 5 adults on the boat were in no danger and did not require any medical assistance.

Edmonton cuts police budget by $11M

as murder rate hits record high

EDMONTON, ALBERTA  ~~~  July 9, 2020  (LSN)  The socialist Edmonton city council has voted to defund the police by about $11 million.

After hosting public hearings on policing, Council may not have looked closely at their crime rates in their city before moving to reduce the estimated $389-million policing budget and putting the money to “support community development, human services and housing.”
